Experience the sanctuary

The sanctuary sits roughly 15–20 km south of Nata village, just off the A3 road — an easy stop between the Makgadikgadi Pans and Kasane or Francistown (about 170 km from Francistown).

Rates effective 1 April 2026. Entry fees are paid on arrival at the gate (cash only). Advance booking is recommended for lodge rooms and campsite tents.

Good to know before you go

Best time to visit: January–April, after the rains, when flamingo numbers and water levels peak.
Getting around: Self-drive routes and viewpoints throughout; a raised wooden platform offers panoramic pan views.
Vehicle: Standard vehicles manage in the dry season; a 4×4 is strongly recommended in the rains when black-cotton soils become difficult.
Where to stay: Choose between the on-site lodge and the campsite at the pans.
Gate hours: Daily 07:00 – 19:00. Cash payment only accepted on site.

How to get here

The sanctuary gate is approximately 15–20 km south of Nata village along the Francistown–Maun road (A3), on the edge of the Sua Pan.

From Francistown

About 170 km west on the A3. Easy day trip or overnight stop.

From Maun / Kasane

Convenient stop on the main route between the Okavango / Chobe and the east.

Self-drive

Well signposted from Nata. 4×4 recommended in the wet season.
